Procedure to Update Galaxy S GT I9000 with Jellybean 4.1 Firmware:

• Download the Jellybean 4.1 Firmware Package from here to your computer. Once downloaded connect your Galaxy S GT I9000 with the computer and place the downloaded zip package in your device s SD Card.

• Once the file is copied, just disconnect the device and turn off so that it can be entered in the recovery mode. Galaxy S can be entered in the recovery mode by pressing the Volume Up Key, Center button, and holding both simultaneously press the Power Button. If the device boots up in the normal mode, then try again the above process to get your Galaxy S in recovery mode.

How to Update Galaxy TAB 8.9 with AOSP based Jellybean 4.1.1 Firmware ALPHA 2

Procedure to Update Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 with Jellybean 4.1.1 Update:

• First up you need to Root Galaxy Tab 8.9 by following the instructions mentioned here. Once it s done, you now will have to check the same whether the device is rooted or not by downloading the app called Root Checker from the Google PLAY Store. Open the app where you will see the status of the rooting status.

• Download the Jellybean 4.1.1 Update Package (for 3G Version) from here to your computer. Once downloaded, connect your device to the computer and place the same in your device and make sure that you are not placing the file deep into the device.

• The recovery mode in tab can be entered by holding the Volume down button + Press the power button for 15 seconds till you see the two icons in your tab. Release the buttons and with the help of Volume buttons, select Recovery Mode and wait till the recovery mode is shown up.

Note: Just in a rare case if the device is not updated and it gets into the boot loop mode, you need to again clear the cache from the recovery mode and retry the whole process from the start.

Samsung kills local search on international Galaxy S3 in 'stability' update

There's a new over-the-air update rolling out for the international Samsung Galaxy S III (aka Galaxy S3 GT-i9300) this evening. The OTA message identifies it as a "stability update," but what it also does is remove local (on-device) search functionality in the phone's built-in Google Search app. The new version -- XXBLG6 -- is a relatively recent build, having been cooked just a few days ago on Jul. 20. A new baseband version, XXLG6, is also included, but we haven't noticed any other changes thus far.

Following legal action by Apple, which temporarily resulted in the Galaxy Nexus being banned in the U.S., Samsung has taken to pre-emptively disabling the ability to search within on-device data (like contacts and applications) on some U.S. Galaxy S3's. However, the decision to kill local search on the unlocked international model -- which isn't sold in the U.S. -- is a little perplexing, not least because Apple has yet to challenge Sammy over local search in the EU or UK, where the GT-i9300 is sold.

What's more, marking this solely as a "stability" update seems a little underhanded, as users aren't being informed that the latest OTA disables functionality which was included with their original purchase. Nevertheless, local search is now gone on the international Galaxy S3, a decision which makes Samsung's leading smartphone a little less smart. We're sure folks are working on hacking local search back in as we speak, just as we're sure Apple will pursue some other tactic in its efforts to block the S3 from sale.
